drafts subdivision ordinance

March 5, 2006 | CORNISH -- The Planning and Zoning
Commission held a public hearing Thursday to revise
the draft of the new subdivision ordinance.
The commission has been working on the ordinance for
several months now, said Amy Murphy, town recorder.
The ordinance was modeled after Lewiston's subdivision
Chris McKnight, commission chairman, said, "A subdivision
ordinance is necessary to protect the town and its residents,
to keep organization and ensure that subdivisions are
The ordinance originally stated if a resident wanted
to divide agricultural land it had to be at least 10
acres. The commission amended that for only five acres
to be required for dividing the land.
The final draft of the subdivision ordinance will
be presented to the town council March 16.
