By C. Jake Williams
HYDE PARK -- Rich Schaeffer, representing the Cache
Child and Family Support Center, asked the Hyde Park
City Council to adopt a proclamation making April Child
Abuse Prevention Month. The council unanimously consented.
"This is a great program and Hyde Park is proud to
be involved," said Mayor David Kooyman.
Schaeffer also announced the Race Against Child Abuse
5K, to be held April 12 in Wellsville. More information
is available on CFSC's
website.
In other business, the council voted to annex approximately
34 acres, three parcels, of industrial land into the
city. The annexation passed without dissent. The land
is bounded north to south by 4400 North and 3100 North
and east to west by 200 West and 2400 West.
"The tax benefits are gonna be your main benefits
to the city," said developer David James, who is also
a planning and zoning commissioner for the city. "My
goal is to add value to the land."
The council also accepted Resolution 2008-5, which
aims to address possible future problems with municipal
wastewater planning by unanimous vote.
"We have no problems with the sewage system right
now," said Councilman Bryan Cox.
Hyde Park's next city council meeting has been moved
from April 9 to Tuesday, April 8.
